Games can get pretty intense unless you step back for a moment and realize that it's "just a game", but what part of reality isn't a game of some sort? Rules make a game and you play simply by trying to achieve a goal. Chances are there are others who would like to achieve that same goal. If you want a job you have to follow rules and win the job against other people that want the same thing. If you want to be a known artist or entertainer you have to follow rules in your competition with others who would take up the time your audience could be devoting to you. To enter politics is to enter a game. To apply to school is to enter a game. To get a girlfriend, boyfriend, or one night stand is to enter a game.

The appeal of organized games such as football or monopoly does not go over my head. It's nice to have a clearly defined set of rules to follow. To have agreed upon boundaries and in some cases a set length of time in which the game will occur or a point at which the game is undeniably over. Life, on the other hand, is like a game where the hardest part almost seems to be learning the rules. Those that get the rules of relationships early on may be successful in that area but not so much in the game that is getting a job and maintaining financial independence. Those that get the game of school may not be fit to play the game of becoming an entertainer. There are rules to learn, but the hardest part of the game that is life is that the rules are always changing.

We perceive such a small part of all that is.

Forces that we can't even sense make up so much of our reality and present themselves in part in the way they affect the things we do sense. It is very easy to view color as something separate from light, but scenes such as this remind us that our reality is more fluid than we realize and we have a less comprehensive idea of our surroundings than we may at first believe. It is easy to look at our current state of technology; airplanes, the internet, etc... in comparison with early civilizations and think of ourselves as extremely advanced. The truth is we have made remarkable breakthroughs in our understanding and mastery of the world around us, but...

the vastness of all that is unknown far exceeds the comfort of our current surroundings.

there is one moment in a day... a moment so perfectly pure and simple, unmistakably high. This moment may manifest in as many different ways as there are different people. It can be the 7 minutes after a snooze button is hit before it must be hit again, the first cigarette of the day or the last, the moment you sit down to work or perhaps when you stand up to leave. Wrapped in the arms of a loved one this moment may be shared, or it is the brief period of alone time in which your attention belongs to the finer things in life like how pretty it is outside, what's on tv, or painting your soul on canvas. For some it is bursting with energy while for others it is a state of serenity.

There are many little moments throughout the day, but one which you instinctively look forward to. One moment that your subconscious prepares for while your body is busy with the daily obligations of your social contract. One moment... so heavy that it's gravity defines who you are at that particular point in your life while who you are is defining that moment.
